The latest in this new medium from up-and-coming artists, fashion designers and fashion photographers, followed by panel discussion.

After the success of the 2008 fashion film event, Birds Eye View is pleased to announce a 2009 programme focusing on work completed within the last year. Films by the likes of Sarah Chatfield (YSL), Katerina Jebb (Givenchy), Cassette Playa, Toyin (Replay), Jamie Isaia (Swarovski) and Ruth Hogben.  

Screening followed by a lively panel discussion with leading practitioners in this field.

  • Sarah Chatfield (YSL)

    Sarah's break through came with the colourful promo for Lily Allen’s single ‘Alfie’ which was commissioned by Kirstin Cruickshank at EMI. The live action and puppet based video was a huge airplay success, and Sarah was subsequently commissioned for a variety of other top pop acts including the Noisettes, Lykke Li and Annie. Sarah was awarded Best New Director and Best Pop video for ‘Alfie’ at the CADs awards in June of 2007.

  • Toyin (Replay)

    Toyin is a London-based fashion photographer. She has contributed editorial work to magazines including: Doing Bird, Visionaire, Vogue Nippon, Vogue Homme, Arena Homme Plus, Dazed and Confused, and she has also worked with Gucci. Toyin recently directed a recent Patrick Wolf video and created a film project for Dazed & Confused for the opening of Edwin Jeans' store in Covent Garden. She continues to work on 'The Cult of Boys', her ongoing personal photographic project.

  • Cassette Playa

    Cassette Playa is the label of London-based designer Carri Mundane. Mundane was nominated for Best Menswear Designer at the British Fashion Awards in 2007.
    Cassette Playa was listed as Best Fashion Designer in Rolling Stone’s Best of Rock 2008 and has worked with artists including M.I.A., Klaxons, Dizzee Rascal, Late of the Pier, Patrick Wolf, Ruff Sqwad, and ,b>Boy Better Know. Mundane has styled and art directed for Dazed & Confused, and the ‘DUNK BE TRUE’ exhibition with Nike.

  • Jamie Isaia (Swarovski)

    Jamie Isaia evokes mood and atmosphere in a color-saturated, expressive photographic style that suggests dream-like, otherworldly scenarios.

    Isaia's editorial work for W, Italian Vogue, Japanese Vogue, i-D, Tokion, Tank Whitewall and The Last Magazine reveals a new voice in fashion photography.

    In 2008 Isaia was nominated for the Discovery Award at the Recontres d'Arles. Most recently Jamie completed her second short film for Swarovski.

  • Katerina Jebb (Givenchy)

    Katerina Jebb, an English artist based in Paris. She is famous for her unconventional technique using an industrial size photocopier machine to create striking pictures. Her traditional photographic works are made unique through her use of colour and composition in the prints. Katerina's "photocopier" pieces involving Tori Amos are featured in the From The Choirgirl Hotel album and tourbook. It has been noted that each final piece is actually "a collage of pictures with subtle changes that give the work interest and character."

  • Ruth Hogben

    Ruth Hogben is a photographer and filmmaker based in London. She has assisted Nick Knight since 2005, both as first photographic assistant and increasingly as editor of his fashion film projects.
