My Best Girl, accompanied by the Elysian Quartet was originally commissioned for the BEV Festival in 2008 where it was a huge success.
My Best Girl (Sam Taylor, 1925) is a charming comic love story featuring stars of the day Mary Pickford and Buddy Rogers. It was nominated for an academy award in 1928 for its stunning cinematography.
Elysian Quartet has performed all over the world to great acclaim and is the only British string quartet of its generation dedicated exclusively to contemporary, improvised and experimental music. The Elysians have collaborated with artists as diverse as Damo Suzuki, Meredith Monk and Simon Fisher-Turner and have performed many new commissions including recent works by Graham Fitkin and Keith Tippett.
