Sound and Silents 2007

In 2007 Birds Eye View commissioned three artists to create new scores for three films from pioneering surrealist filmmakers Maya Derren and Germaine Dulac. This event took place at the Barbican, with the support of Arts Council England. We also repeated our 2005 Sound & Silents commission of Joanna MacGregor, Rita Ray and Shri Sriram collaborating for the first time on a live score to a stunning selection of short silent films, including films by Alice Guy (1906), Lotte Reineger (1926) and Cathy Hinde (1905). This event took place at BFI Southbank as part of Optronica, and was repeated at Big Chill.
