About
BEV tours throughout the year bringing a range of events to cities and Festivals in the UK and further afield.
We first toured way back in 2003, taking short films by emerging women directors to ten cities across the UK, with the tour reported in Elle, Harpers Dazed & The Guardian. The tour was launched at the then National Film Theatre (BFI Southbank) by Juliet Stevenson and Meera Syal.
Since then we have kept a strong touring element to our annual programme, including more outings at regional cinemas, plus music, arts and other film festivals both nationally and internationally. Our work falls roughly into three categories.
Sound & Silents
Sound & Silents is our pioneering programme of groundbreaking women-made silent films accompanied by specially commissioned live scores by cutting edge female musicians. Premiered in our annual festival, the commissions tour widely across top regional cinemas and regularly play music festivals from Latitude to Big Chill.
Film Festivals
You'll find us and our tireless cause at film Festivals across the UK and further afield, often working to co-present top screenings by women filmmakers as well as offering training and networking events for emerging filmmakers. Recent stops have included the Edinburgh International FF, Sheffield Doc/Fest, London's Palestine FF, the Human Rights Watch FF, Cannes International FF and many more.
BEV UK
BEV UK has previously been a mainstay of our touring, with focused activity in different UK regions bringing the Festivals' contemporary cinematic goodies to audiences outside London. This has included screenings, masterclasses, and the chance for regionally based filmmakers to connect with key industry talent. Sadly, owing to the current funding situation, our work with BEV UK is on hold - but we will be back!
