About

Birds Eye View tours throughout the year bringing a range of events to Cities and Festivals both inside and outside the UK.

Birds Eye View first toured way back in 2003, taking a programme of 5 short films from emerging women directors to ten cities across the UK.

This was the first time Birds Eye View hit the national press, with tour coverage in Elle, Harpers & Queen, i-D, Dazed, The Guardian. The tour was launched at the then National Film Theatre (BFI Southbank) with a Gala event, featuring guest speakers Juliet Stevenson and Meera Syal.

Since then we have kept a strong touring element to our annual programme, including more outings at regional cinemas, plus music, arts and other film festivals both nationally and internationally.

We now have a two-fold focus for touring activity:

First, BEV UK is our focussed activity in different UK regions, to bring the goodies of the festival to audiences and filmmakers outside London. This can include screenings, masterclasses, and the chance for regionally based filmmakers to connect with key industry talent.

Second, Sound & Silents is our exciting programme of silent films accompanied by specially commissioned live scores from cutting edge female artists. These are premiered in our annual festival, and then toured as much as possible to UK cinemas and at music festivals, including Latitude and Big Chill.
