highlight of this year's Festival; ‘ ELECTRIC LADY LAND
- women in music videos ' showcases a stunning collection
of music videos by female directors. With clips from the multi-talented
and eccentric DIY director Kate Bush ; cult classics
and inspiration from Dawn Shadforth (Kylie, Goldfrapp,
Primal Scream), punk rock aesthetics courtesy of Deborah
Schamoni (Chicks on
Speed, Peaches) and a pick of the best from up and coming stars
incl Cat Solen (Brighteyes, CSS) and Nagi
Noda (Yuki).
Following
the screening, music journalist Miranda Sawyer
will join filmmaker Dawn Shadforth , independent
commissioner Vez Hoper , organiser of the Radar
music video Festival Caroline Bottomley and emerging
promo directors Kinga Burza , Carolyn Corben
, Toyin Ibidapo , George Wu ,
Lauren Pushkin and Lucy Sullivan
on stage for a fascinating discussion on all elements of the video
industry.
A
not-to-be-missed session for any wannabe music video directors out
there, this event will provide top tips on surviving the world of
music videos and give direct access to insider advice.

Miranda
Sawyer, award-winning
broadcaster and journalist, has written for a variety of publications,
including Select Magazine, Time Out and The Observer, and
was contributing editor for The Face. She writes regularly
for Vogue and Blender, and interviewed Tony Blair for Glamour
magazine. Miranda has often presented for both television
and radio and has appeared in discussion programmes including
Question Time and Late Review. Her first book, Park And Ride,
was published by Little Brown & Co in 1999. |
