Show People accompanied by Jane Gardner

+ Mabel's Dramatic Careeer  accompanied by Jean Hasse

Two hilarious silent movies scored by the pros.

Show People (King Vidor, US)  Peggy Pepper begins her career in slapstick movies, where she falls for fellow comedian Billy Boone, but when - as ‘Patricia Pepoire’ - she graduates to high art productions, she rejects him.

Jane Gardner  Jane Gardner is a silent movie pianist, composer and teacher based in Edinburgh, who holds a PhD in Composition from Goldsmiths College. Her solo piano performances to silent film include Buster Keaton's 'The Navigator' and 'Steamboat Bill Junior', Harold Lloyd's 'Safety Last!' and Lon Chaney's 'He Who gets Slapped'. Her concert hall works have been widely performed by ensembles such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Edinburgh Contemporary Arts Trust and Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Mabel's Dramatic Careeer (Mack Sennett, US) With Mabel Normand, Mack Sennett, Ford Sterling, Roscoe ‘Fatty’ Arbuckle. Mabel finds work as an actress in a film studio in this wonderfully self-reflexive short.

Jean Hasse Jean Hasse composes for films, videos, special events and the concert hall and teaches Composition at the University of Bristol. Her chamber orchestra score to accompany Murnau's Faust (1926) was premiered in
October 2007, in Bristol and London.
