The story of a life and everything that came after... The Lovely Bones centers on a young girl who has been murdered and watches over her family - and her killer - from heaven. She must weigh her desire for vengeance against her desire for her family to heal.

 

Based on the best selling book by Alice Sebold, The Lovely Bones is the story of  14-year-old Susie Salmon from suburban Pennsylvania who is murdered by her neighbour. She tells the story from Heaven, showing the lives of the people around her and how they have changed all while attempting to get someone to find her lost body.

About the Screenwriters

Philippa Boyens and Fran Walsh hail from New Zealand co-wrote the screenplay for The Lovely Bones with Peter Jackson (Fran's husband).  Prior to this collaboration, the worked on King Kong and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy for which the trio won an Oscar at the 76th Academy Awards in 2004. Currently they are working with Guillermo del Toro on The Hobbit films which are scheduled for release in 2011 and 2012.
