Claire Denis Retrospective (2010)

6th June-29th July

BEV are proud to be partnering with The Watershed in Bristol on their timely and crucial retrospective of the work of French filmmaker Claire Denis. The UK tour will lead up to and then complement the UK release of Denis' new film White Material on 2 July 2010.

Denis' multi-layered portraits of the complexities of our relationships, desires and physical geographies won her the accolade of 'the filmmaker of the decade' by Sight and Sound earlier this year. Here is your chance to become fully versed in her challenging vision.

BEV fans and followers in and near Bristol, Dublin, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Sheffield, Cambridge and Manchester - that's nearly all of us, right?! - can catch ten of Denis' works, from her 1988 debut Chocolat to her breakthroughs Nénette et Boni (1996) and Beau Travail (1999), her erotic thrillers Trouble Every Day, starring Béatrice Dalle and Vincent Gallo, and Friday Night, up to 2008's intimately beautiful and contemporary family portrait, 35 Shots of Rum.
