Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010
16th - 27th June
Birds Eye View returned to Edinburgh International Film Festival with two not-to-be-missed events. We kicked off with 'The Bigelow Effect' panel discussion on Saturday 19th June. And on Monday 21st June we played host to another 'Pitch & Connect' session.
'The Bigelow Effect' panel discussion was for EIFF industry delegates and ran from 17.30 - 18.30 at the Expo Delegate Centre. BEV returned to Edinburgh to discuss the win of the year: Kathryn Bigelow's revolutionary Oscar for The Hurt Locker . What does this mean for women filmmakers? Was it a one-off triumph or will it result in more women making films, and winning awards for them? To probe these and more questions we were joined by - Stephanie Argy (The Red Machine), Diane Bell (Obselidia), Hawa Essuman (Soulboy), Kit Hui (Fog) and others.
'Pitch & Connect' ran from 11.00 - 13.00 at Novotel - Usher. The session offered a life-changing opportunity to pitch your film project in a 15 minute one-to-one session with leading industry producers and commissioners, in a friendly, unbiased and professional environment. Not to mention the convience and opportunity of finding like minded people to collaborate with. Panelists included Lizzie Franke (UKFC), Beatrice Neuman (The Works) and producer Clare Mundell (Synchronicity Films). This really was a chance to pick the brains of the UK’s best and most experienced in the industry.
