BFI Southbank / ICA / Curzon

Welcome to the fourth Birds Eye View Film Festival: a week of inspiration and celebration, with over 70 events at London's leading cinema venues. Each year we showcase the very best in new features, documentaries and short films from women filmmakers from across the globe, alongside premiere screenings, special multi-media events, Q&As, panel discussions and parties.

Highlights for our 2008 festival include:


- Opening Night Gala:star of stage and screen Maureen Lipman opens Birds Eye View and celebrates International Women's Week with a fantastic range of short films from internationally emerging talent, with director Q&A plus twice grammy-nominated Imogen Heap plays live piano accompaniment to some early comedy, all followed by a free party in the BFI filmcafe.

-A stunning programme of international UK premieres of Cannes hit Expired starring Samantha Morton and Hotel Very Welcome starring Chris O'Dowd + Cannes Jury Prize Winner Persepolis and LFF Critics Prize Unrelated

- Clowning Glories and Screwball Women: 2 BFI retrospectives celebrating women in early film, with special guest Jo Brand, Sally Phillips, Jessica Hynes (nee Stevenson), Arabella Weir, Shazia Mirza and Lucy Porter + Live music from Nikki Yeoh, Zoe Rahman, Imogen Heap and Serafina Steer

- Life-changing docs from Afganistan, Pakistan, China and Nepal + epic Flying: Confessions of a Free Woman with Jennifer Fox

- Late at the Tate with Artprojx - one off Whitechapel Late Night with Peggy Sue & the Pirates and Florence and the Machine - Fashion Films with Bella Freud - Music Videos with Miranda Sawyer - Gaming - Mobile phone filmmaking and a chance to take part in Overheated Symphony...
