THE LAST LAUGH: Women Create Comedy
in association with Skillset
Last Laugh: Women Create Comedy is the new comedy feature film development initiative from Warp X and Birds Eye View with the support of Skillset . United by the shared desire to champion brilliant female comedy talent in the UK and to bring female led comedy feature films to the screen, we have created a groundbreaking programme to do just that.
Drawing from diverse talent across different disciplines: radio, television, comedy theatre and stand-up, we will select up to 15 outstanding British funny women and equip them with the contacts and creative support they need to create high quality, fresh and funny feature films.
Warp X and Birds Eye View will bring them together for a three-day residential retreat in October, with industry experts and the Last Laugh team in a relaxed, creative environment. The focus will be on creating new comedy alliances and the birth of exciting comedy film ideas.
After the residential, participants will have the opportunity to pitch new film ideas to Warp X for inclusion on its development slate. A number of individual projects and creative teams will be selected for development support with the intention that the films will go into production from 2010.
